Before any answer ships, it checks scope, pulls only approved sources, and refuses when nothing supports a reply — so every answer can be traced, checked, or refused. The platform deploys hosted, in a private cloud, or on premises.
No. Bast AI (bast.ai) and Vast.ai are different, unrelated companies. Bast AI builds explainable AI infrastructure for healthcare: every answer traces to approved sources, and the system refuses when nothing supports a reply. Vast.ai is a GPU cloud marketplace. Reviews or complaints about Vast.ai do not describe Bast AI.
BastCare is a free iPhone app from Bast AI for patients and caregivers. Record a medical visit with everyone's permission, receive a plain-language summary, and decide exactly what a chosen CareTeam can see — sharing nothing is always valid. Audio stays on the iPhone until the summary is created, and Bast does not save or log transcript text. BastCare is an organization and communication tool, not a medical device. Yes. BastCare 1.0 is free to download on iPhone from the App Store. A paid tier is not part of the current release.
Standard chatbots generate answers from training patterns, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) improves the model's context — but neither verifies that the final answer is actually supported before it reaches the user. Bast takes the opposite approach: instead of asking the model to be honest, it limits what the model can say. Relevant knowledge is selected before generation, answers come only from approved sources, and when nothing supports a reply, Bast refuses.
